Last Updated: May 30, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how The Scotia Kennel (“The Scotia Kennel,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, discloses, and protects information about you when you visit or use the website located at scotiakennel.com and its related pages and content (the “Site”). The Site is operated by The Scotia Kennel, located in Grants Pass, Oregon.
By accessing or using the Site, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with our practices, please do not use the Site. This Privacy Policy is incorporated into and subject to our Terms of Use.
1. Information We Collect
scotiakennel.com is an informational website. We do not operate online forms, a checkout, or payment processing on this Site. We collect limited information in two ways: information you choose to provide, and information collected automatically.
Information you provide. The main way you provide information to us is by emailing us through the contact links on the Site, for example to join our waitlist or ask about a puppy. When you do, you provide your email address and whatever you choose to include in your message, which may include your name, telephone number, and details about your household, living situation, and experience with dogs.
Information collected automatically. When you visit the Site, we use Google Analytics, which uses cookies and similar technologies to collect standard usage information such as your IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, the pages you view, the links you click, and the dates and times of your visits. We use this information to understand how the Site is used and to improve it. You can learn more about Google’s practices and opt out of Google Analytics using the tools Google provides, including the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the limited information we collect to: respond to your inquiries and email communications; manage our puppy waitlist and evaluate prospective homes; operate, maintain, secure, and improve the Site; comply with our legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Use; and for any other purpose disclosed to you at the time of collection or with your consent. Because we do not sell products or take payments on this Site, we do not process orders or payment information here.
3. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies to operate the Site, understand how it is used, and improve it. We use Google Analytics for website analytics, which sets cookies on your device. The Site also embeds third-party content, such as YouTube videos, and those third parties may set their own cookies and collect information about your interaction with that content in accordance with their own privacy policies. You can usually adjust your browser settings to refuse or delete cookies, though some features of the Site may not function properly if you do. Where required by applicable law, we will obtain your consent before using non-essential cookies.
4. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for targeted advertising. We share information only as described here:
Service providers. We share information with third parties that provide services for the Site, such as website hosting and analytics (including Google Analytics). These providers may use the information only to provide services to us.
Legal and safety. We may disclose information if we believe in good faith that doing so is necessary to comply with applicable law, regulation, legal process, subpoena, or governmental request; to enforce our Terms of Use; to detect, prevent, or address fraud or security issues; or to protect the rights, property, or safety of The Scotia Kennel, our users, or others.
Business transfers. If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, sale of assets, or similar transaction, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Policy.
With your consent. We may share information for any other purpose with your consent.
5. Third-Party Services and Links
The Site links to and embeds third-party websites, platforms, and content that we do not control, including Pure Dog Talk, social media platforms, podcast and video hosts such as YouTube, and recommended brand partners. This Privacy Policy does not apply to those third parties, and we are not responsible for their privacy practices. When you click through to or purchase from a third party, you are subject to that third party’s terms and privacy policy. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third party before providing your information to them.
6. Communications
We do not operate a marketing email list or newsletter through this Site. If you email us using the contact links on the Site, we will use your email address and the contents of your message to respond to you and to follow up regarding your inquiry or waitlist request. If you no longer wish to receive email from us, simply let us know by replying to any message.
7. Your Privacy Choices and Rights
Depending on where you live and subject to applicable law, you may have rights regarding your personal information, which may include the right to: confirm whether we process your personal information and access it; correct inaccurate personal information; request deletion of your personal information; obtain a portable copy of the personal information you provided; and opt out of the processing of your personal information for purposes of targeted advertising, the sale of personal information, or certain profiling.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at laura@puredogtalk.com. We may need to verify your identity before responding, and we will respond within the time required by applicable law. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights. If we deny your request, you may have the right to appeal by replying to our response, and, where applicable, to contact your state Attorney General.
8. Opt-Out Preference Signals
Some browsers and extensions offer opt-out preference signals, such as the Global Privacy Control (GPC). Where required by applicable law, we will treat a recognized opt-out preference signal as a valid request to opt out of the sale of personal information and processing for targeted advertising for the browser or device from which it is sent.
9. Children’s Privacy
The Site is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at laura@puredogtalk.com and we will take appropriate steps to delete it. We also do not knowingly process the personal data of users aged 13 to 15 for targeted advertising or sale without any consent required by applicable law.
10. Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this Policy, including to respond to and follow up on your inquiries, comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements, after which we will delete or de-identify it in accordance with applicable law.
11. Data Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
12. Users Outside the United States
The Site is operated in the United States and is intended for users located in the United States. If you access the Site from outside the United States, you understand that your information will be processed in the United States, where data-protection laws may differ from those in your jurisdiction.
13. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time in our sole discretion. Any changes are effective when we post the revised Policy to the Site with an updated “Last Updated” date. Your continued use of the Site after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Policy. We encourage you to review this Policy periodically.
